Pharmacy Inventory Buyer - Pharmacy at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, Maine

SUMMARY

* Position Summary

* This position is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and recommending the process and activities of the pharmacy inventory purchasing system. The position is responsible for the pharmaceutical purchasing for both inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy departments and assists with the purchasing at all of the SMHC office practices. The position recommends pharmaceutical vendor selection and monitors the performance of the vendors through purchase reports and analysis. The position reports to Director of Pharmacy and works closely with all SMHC pharmacists and technicians.

* Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

* Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.

* License/Certifications: Current pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) (or achievable within 6 months of the date of hire) received through examination and administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

* Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of prior work experience as a Pharmacy Technician or as a pharmacy purchasing buyer. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a hospital pharmacy or home infusion setting. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Computer experience required. 1Experience in a computerized hospital drug distribution system and with automated dispensing cabinets system required. Experience with dosage preparations applicable for patients of all ages is required.

* An active Maine registration as a pharmacy technician is required.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

* Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and their application to hospital pharmacy practice is required.

* Knowledge and experience with Excel and Word
