  • Build segments around news headlines Newsy feels deserve more time and attention, as assigned by the supervising or line producer

  • Write copy that is concise and conversational, factually sound and solutions-focused, free of grammar errors

  • Coordinate with field crews assigned to contribute to segments and serve as a liaison between field crews and the live control room, serving as a direct point-of-contact between the two

  • Research, write and produce assigned segments for cable news programs

  • Work in collaboration with graphics producers and video editors to develop the most compelling visual elements possible

  • Collaborate with contributors and guests

  • Edit and clip segments for broadcast and digital distribution on Newsy properties

  • Assist in the development of recurring segment production across several news and special programs

  • Pitch compelling brand-minded segments and story ideas in weekly planning meetings

  • Work with Booking Producer to conduct guest- or collaborator-based research and pre-interviews

  • Five (5)-plus years experience in television or digital video news required

  • Sound editorial judgment

  • Must demonstrate good writing skills (including AP style)

  • Must be able to multitask, meet deadlines and work under pressure

  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced newsroom environment strongly preferred

  • Project leadership/management experience strongly preferred

  • A moderate level of mobility is required in expediting work flow processes and procedures

  • Must be physically able to sit at a workstation and maintain productivity for upwards of eight (8)hours on occasion

  • A relatively high degree of mental acuity and social skills are necessary to successfully interact with coworkers, newsroom supervisors and the general public, often under time-sensitive conditions

  • Overtime, shift and weekend work, as needed
