Job Description:

Commercial Term Lending (CTL) is part of the Commercial Real Estate business within JPMorgan Chase that offers multifamily and commercial term loan financing in 13 major U.S. Markets. We have two specialized lending teams within CTL. Our Multifamily Lending Team is the nation's #1 multifamily lender, Chase provides term financing from $500,000 to $25 million+ for the purchase or refinance of stabilized apartment buildings with five+ units. Our Commercial Mortgage Lending Team provides term financing from $1 million to $15 million+ for the purchase or refinance of stabilized industrial, office, retail or mixed use properties.

The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for leading the CTL Onboarding function which includes the National Processing team as well as the design and leadership of the Treasury Services account opening process for CTL.

Processing consists of a team of approximately 45 people, including Operations Managers and their corresponding Loan Coordinators who operate as a middle-office loan origination operations team responsible for reviewing loan files to ensure completeness, accuracy and regulatory compliance, and prepare the files to move to underwriting for a credit decision. The manager will lead key business initiatives and collaborate with other functional managers from Sales, Servicing, Underwriting and other support functions on a regular basis.

For the TS account opening process, you will partner with the CTL digital, CTL sales and middle office teams to design the onboarding process and staff the team to ensure the operating model will allow for the account opening and loan origination process to seamlessly coexist.


  • Define critical operating tasks and corresponding measures of success to hold the team accountable to the goals and objectives.
  • Develop gearing metrics and perform ongoing capacity management to ensure the most effective utilization of resources.
  • Establish annual budget for the department.
  • Develop and lead a high performing team of managers and loan coordinators through coaching, mentoring, employee engagement, real-time feedback, and training.
  • Drive excellent quality metrics and set the example for how we do business according to firm's core values
  • Implement and carry out process and procedure with an eye for operational and cost efficiency.
  • Build relationships with all CTL business partners in an effort to reduce cycle time, strengthen controls, and remain focused on continuous pursuit of operational improvement.
  • Advise and influence Business Partners on key business decisions and major change initiatives
  • Lead and/or participate in projects and initiatives to drive the department and business forward.
  • Execute control initiatives.
  • Partner with other functional managers across the organization to efficiently and effectively resolve escalations and answer questions.
  • Engage with staff to understand workflow, priorities, file quality and knowledge of processes, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor business needs and make adjustments to schedules, work load, processes, and procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 8 - 10+ years of financial services lending operations experience; including at least 5 years of proven management experience required, including managing managers.
  • Ability to proactively oversee a business function and perform complex tasks in a fast paced changing environment.
  • Experience with increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of supported partners through working together on improvement opportunities for shared workflow.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Understanding of Commercial Term Lending (Commercial Real Estate) products and process a plus.
  • Understanding of TS products and account opening process.
  • Experience building a team and implementing a location strategy.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of government regulations as it pertains to residential / commercial lending a plus.
  • Experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, decision making, independent thought and a collaborative management style.
