JOB SUMMARY

The chief objective of this position:

-

Coordinates admissions from VCU Health, Community Memorial Health, other external sources, and from home. Sets up and maintains patients' fund accounts. Prequalifies/screens the prospective admission to make sure that they meet the technical requirements (3 day hospital stay) and the skilled care criteria. Sets up residents' accounts and follows up on payment issues, insurance approvals, etc. Serves as the insurance resource contact for staff, residents, and families. Must be thorough and accurate in providing information to other parties while maintaining confidentiality.

Experience REQUIRED:

-

Minimum of two (2) years of previous accounting, insurance and/or administrative work experience in an office/ social services environment

-

Previous experience in Medicare coverage for skilled nursing impatient stay

-

Previous experience with Microsoft Office applications and e-mail/calendaring

-

Experience PREFERRED

-

Three (3) to five (5) years of previous experience in skilled and long term care insurance and business administration work experience in an office /social services environment

-

Previous experience in a health care environment

-

Previous experience working with managed care plans

-

Education/training REQUIRED:

-

High School Diploma or equivalent

Education/training PREFERRED:

-

Associates Degree in Business, Accounting or related field from an accredited program
