The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Toxicologist, within 3M’s Corporate Toxicology and Environmental Science group, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Serving as a toxicologist working in the 3M Strategic Toxicology Laboratory (STL)

  • Responsible for all aspects of both in vivo and in vitro studies, including study preparation, execution and finalization

  • Leading data summarization and study related document preparation, including protocol writing and report generation

  • Provide support for general laboratory operations in the STL

  • Routine laboratory work, including solution preparation and biological specimen processing 

  • Work with 3M toxicologists and business units on study design, execution and communication of data and reports.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution in toxicology, pharmacology or similar relevant biological science

  • One (1) year of combined laboratory experience in toxicological testing, biological assay evaluation, mammalian cell culture and/or experimental animal handling (private, public government or military)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biological Sciences or related discipline (with coursework in toxicology, pharmacology, experimental design or similar relevant courses) from an accredited institution

  • Experience with the design and conduct of toxicity testing using both in vivo and in vitro approaches

  • Experience working in a GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) certified laboratory

  • Experience in scientific report preparation

  • Experimental animal handling experience

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
