Position Description: 

The project engineer is responsible for development, executing and discipline support for capital projects and technical support of operational areas in accordance with all guidelines to improve safety, compliance, efficiencies, quality, unit production costs, reliability, capacity or infrastructure. 

Functions, Duties, Tasks: 

• Capital Project Management:  Manage all aspects of capital projects to meet the customer needs. This includes: identifying, developing and executing the following: potential projects with departments, detailed scopes, eCIR, cost estimates, design possibly with outside consultants, budgeting/cost control, project scheduling, construction with coordinator, GMP qualifications process (DQ/IQ/OQ), reliability group coordination, contract and equipment material procurement, status reports/updates and project close outs including documentation/drawing management and accounting requirements.  This execution of projects requires the project engineer to proactively work with the owner utilizing good communications during and afterwards for feedback/improvement. 




• Safety & Environmental:  For all projects and where necessary provide support to various areas to address any safety & environmental concerns. Proactively take safety & environmental issues into account on all activities, including ergonomic design, audits, scope/safety kickoff meetings and observing/reporting behaviors or near misses. 




• Technical:  For discipline assigned, provide technical support to all other project engineers, maintenance personnel and operational areas as needed, including investigations, change controls, maintenance tech development, and troubleshooting, studies/analysis and site system reports. 

Minimum Qualification (education, experience and/or training, required certifications): 

• B.S. or equivalent in engineering. 




• Excellent computer skills to utilize Word and Excel are required. 




• Working knowledge of GMP's  




• Some working experience with building mechanical systems, including: HVAC, refrigeration systems, compressed air, water, condensate, etc. 




• Strong communication skills required. This role must maintain frequent contact with customers and provide regular updates, conduct meetings, and produce management presentations. 




• Role requires strong self-management and organizational skills. 

Additional Preferences: 

• Previous experience in CMMS, AutoCAD, Power Point, SAP 




• Previous project management experience. 

Other Information:  

Day shift; some flextime required. Weekend and evening work not usual, although it may be required for some projects. 
Travel is minimal <5%.
