As an Associate Vice President, Head of Travel Vaccine Franchise working on the US Business Unit team, you will be empowered to support the launch and successful commercialization of Takeda’s dengue vaccine. In this role, you will contribute to Takeda’s mission by being responsible for the entire US vaccines P&L and the performance of the cross-functional team. A typical day will include:

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

The purpose of this position is to build and lead the US Travel Vaccines Franchise to support the launch and successful commercialization of Takeda’s dengue vaccine. The Franchise Head will directly lead both sales and marketing functions and be responsible for the entire US vaccines P&L and the performance of the cross-functional team.

The Franchise Head will identify key strategic priorities for the franchise and then assign and oversee resources to execute against the priorities and achieve top and bottom-line objectives while operating within the context of Takeda’s P-T-R-B principles.

The Franchise Head will work directly with leaders from the Vaccine Business Unit and the Dengue GPT to represent US Business Unit interests and ensure robust LCM plans are in place to support a long-term sustainable business within the US market. The Franchise Head will also share insights and best practices with other regions (e.g., EUCAN) to maximize the global opportunity for dengue vaccine.

This position will also act as the key US Takeda contact for all vaccine-related activities.

                                   

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Build the US vaccines franchise team. Lead hiring and talent development for marketing and sales personnel. Support US medical and I&A in recruiting, hiring and onboarding.

  • Direct and oversee the US vaccines marketing staff and sales team (~20 FTEs).

  • Lead the US vaccines cross-functional team to achieve key franchise goals – marketing, sales, medical, market access, government affairs, supply chain, legal, finance.

  • Own the US P&L for the vaccines business. Achieve short and long-term revenue targets, allocate franchise budget and manage investments.

  • Represent USBU with the dengue GPT and VBU. Provide input into LCM and other strategic decisions that will impact the US market.

  • Represent the US vaccines franchise internally to USBU/VBU Sr Leadership and externally to key stakeholders (e.g., CDC, DoD, vaccine-related professional societies, key accounts).

  • Lead development of the US vaccine franchise priorities, dengue strategic brand plan, and tactical brand plans.

  • Support the delivery of innovative marketing and sales platforms to drive greater business efficiency and/or enhance the customer experience

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:


  • BA/BS

  • 15+ years pharma/biotech industry experience including 5+ years US vaccines leadership experience.

  • Account sales experience.

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation – Ability to develop an overall marketing strategy and oversee the implementation of the strategy.

  • People Development – Ability to build teams, assess strengths and weaknesses of staff members and provide suggestions for improvements.

  • Management – Ability to set priorities, develop workflow processes, and direct staff.

  • Budgeting – Ability to create and maintain an accurate budget for department expenses.

  • Communication – Ability to communicate ideas, data both verbally and written, in a persuasive and appropriate manner.

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation – Ability to develop an overall marketing strategy and oversee the implementation of the strategy.

  • People Development – Ability to build teams, assess strengths and weaknesses of staff members and provide suggestions for improvements.

  • Management – Ability to set priorities, develop workflow processes, and direct staff.

  • Budgeting – Ability to create and maintain an accurate budget for department expenses.

  • Communication – Ability to communicate ideas, data both verbally and written, in a persuasive and appropriate manner.

Desired


  • MBA or advanced scientific degree.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the US vaccine commercial and policy landscape.

  • US travel vaccine launch and management experience.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 20% - 30% Travel
