POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Analyst (Laboratory Information Systems) will analyze operational processes and information generation or utilization. The System Analyst will design, develop, manage, test, train, implement and support computer-based information systems and various applications. Manage multidisciplinary teams within ITS for continuous process improvement, maintenance functions and support for business operations, analyst and programmers with technical problems. Mentor, train and educate lower level resources. Must have knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems and be prepared to become a subject matter expert in all areas related to the Laboratory.
Sr. Analyst will perform activities related to solutions development, solutions configuration, data mapping, data transfer, reference data management and analytics development. Project-based work will touch focus on commercial genetics with an overall goal of new analytics and algorithms. The individual in this role will be expected to lead the work on innovative information solutions and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead projects associated with application implementation and execution of high complexity and larger impact. Apply project management methodology and utilize standard project management for software in development and maintenance of project plans.
* Review and understand system options and specifications of applications and utilize the specifications as applicable to make recommendations on use
* System Maintenance/Support: Research and resolve Customer Support Center Tickets including major application upgrades, routine day-to-day support, break-fix, maintenance and other issues within established SLA standards
* Adhere to Zoetis ITS Service Level and Change Management Policies
* Provide on-call support as scheduled
* Establish and maintain regular communications with user community
* Assist in performing routine system maintenance and builds
* System Implementation: Regularly meet with users, vendors, facility lab directors and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications
* Design solutions for applications and prepare the appropriate documentation
* Supervise development of test data, system testing and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle
* Perform Q/A on application functionality
* Research and resolve implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets
* Actively participate in projects as warranted and adhere to appropriate Zoetis ITS Project Management standards
* Ensure strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management
* Oversee the training of users in operating procedures for application
* Maintain the Lab Conversion and Implementation Project Plans and actively meet with stakeholders to drive project related tasks, communications and milestones
* Administration and Oversight: Effectively train analysts in performance of their duties as required Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as required Maintains Service Excellence principles.
* Prepare and promptly submit all routine and special reports. Interview applicants for vacant positions as needed using appropriate interview techniques. Contribute to performance evaluation of junior staff members as needed.

* Continuing Education: Keep up-to-date on relevant Laboratory System Version Changes, Bug-Fix, and release notes
* Keep abreast on relevant Regulatory Requirements that impact the Laboratory System
* Actively participate in increasing education of the Laboratory System functionality through Webinars, User Group meetings, Vendor Classes and List Serve, etc
* Coordinate problem resolution for LIS and analytics solutions when necessary
* Share overall technical responsibility for management, planning, design, and implementation of information and systems within the LIS domain
* Translate business requirements into new solutions, system configurations, data design requirements, and data models
* Provide technical expertise to solution delivery teams throughout all phases of the application life cycle with a focus on design and development activities
* Design systems and data structures and perform/oversee the implementation of them in support of projects
* Ensure operational and analytical data stores are able to support use of genetics data across the organization
* Ensure data use is verified, tested and accurate
* Work with other IT colleagues to define long-term systems strategies and roadmaps for commercial genetics
* Assist project managers with project schedules by identifying technical tasks and system dependencies, as well as estimating resources and task duration
* Assist system support on senior level technical issues with data or analytics
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Provide a variety of programming duties with direction

* Develop effective, efficient internal design and detail pathway workflow documentation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor s degree related to information technology and/or computer science or equivalent education and work experience required
* 5-7 years of experience maintaining Laboratory information systems (Cerner, Orchard)
* 5-7 years of experience with the design and building of systems and information solutions (including modeling and database design), preferably with enterprise-level information/data solutions, analytics development and/or architecture projects
* Experience with data management and/or information integration efforts in large scale programs
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships
* Ability to prioritize issues and drive progress in ambiguous situations
