Job Description:



Has direct responsibility for establishing and maintaining performance objectives relating to the quality of all Meritor products. While leading the Quality function, this position must successfully facilitate and/or coordinate end results by implementing systems and actions through other functional groups.

Job Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

• Utilize expertise to achieve excellence in total Quality, including:

• Solicit input, analyze and prioritize Customer & Supplier related quality issues and coordinate resources to continuously improve metrics and achieve corporate objectives and exceed customer expectations.

• Measure total effectiveness with impact to metrics, including internal audits, IATF/ISO Audits, customer audits-warranty costs, PPM’s, scrap, and rework.

Additional Accountabilities:

•Manage the Quality function at site & serve as IATF/ISO Management Representative while providing quality leadership for the facility

•Provide process / system and quality expertise in a collaborative manner to all functional groups.

•Manage and oversee quality functions to meet zero PPM program launches.

•Perform special studies as required by the Quality Director

•Directs development of new policies and procedures to achieve quality requirements as necessary.

•Advises management of new quality developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.

•Provides direction and guidance in the interpretation and application of company policies and procedures as they relate to quality activities.

•Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies to ensure quality personnel are performing their tasks in a safe manner.

•Provide ongoing support through accessibility, responsiveness, and consistent application of policies. (Includes Envisioned Future, mentoring, meetings, employee involvement, HR planning and performance appraisals.)

•Demonstrates continuous self and team development through training and additional challenges, which will result in improved operational results within CVA.

•Ability to train workforce as needed in quality principles such as statistical process control, analytical 8D problem solving techniques, quality (control) plans, F.M.E.A.S.

•Develop/Maintain the Quality Management System certification to ISO 9001, and/or other required international and customer specific standards.

•Cultivate relationship with internal department teams and external customers and manage quality complaints using a disciplined 8D problem solving process.

•Actively participates in Continuous Improvement activities to drive Quality, Productivity, and Cost Savings improvements. Guides improvement teams in the use of quality tools including Statistical methodologies, DOA, Six Sigma, and analytical problem-solving skills.

•Responsibility for Customer & Supplier Quality development (Assessment and periodic validation) and maintenance, including customer & supplier PPAP coordination, deviation/concession evaluation, and approval.

•Manage Customer returns including product evaluation, customer return reports, and driving actions to solve issues internally or within the supply base.

•Travel to Customers & Suppliers locations / act as quality liaison with Customers, Suppliers, and other internal Meritor functions.

•Provide Quality support to the Procurement team in order to evaluate new business and cost savings opportunities.

•Support global DMO project New Product GP3 and optimize supplier based on cost efficiency and quality performance.

•Leading quality activity in regional distribution center.

•Ability to travel up to 20% of the time. (AP site may require higher



•Minimum of 5 years in Quality Engineering activities required.

•ASQ CQE, CQA, or CRE preferred

•Bachelor’s degree required

•Experience in a distribution facility preferred

•Experience implementing/maintaining a Quality Management System such as IATF, TS-16949 or ISO9001

•Experience in all aspects of quality (plant level, supplier product development and launch PSO , customer satisfaction, and warranty)

•IATF/ISO9000 Lead Auditor and supervision of auditing function preferred

•Understanding of Metallurgical and Measurement processes

•Demonstrated experience working with teams and leading/facilitating staff.

•6 Sigma Black Belt preferred.

Work Conditions:

•Working conditions include conducting tasks in both an office environment and the shop distribution/production floor with some light lifting necessary.
