Job Description:

Job Duties:

• Develops order sequence within SAI system and validates profile recipe including billet length temperature, ram speed and special needs per profile (Blue Card);
  
  


• Set up press to start the auto process;
  
  


• Load billet and break through die utilizing bomb blanket with camera attachment;
  
  


• Extrude billet setting proper ram speed and pressures within SAI recipe system while maintaining appropriate quality;
  
  


• Report production into JDE / KPMS system;
  
  


• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor;
  
  


• Reports to the Shift Lead, considered to be the crew leader and conducts himself or herself accordingly;
  
  


• Always at the press on or before the starting time;
  
  


• Checks with the off-going operator for any equipment problems or pertinent information when taking over the press;
  
  


• Responsible for press reports, any unsafe mechanical or electrical problems to shift lead or to maintenance craft;
  
  


• Checks the following:
  
  
  
  • Billet furnace temperature. To recipe
    
    
  
  
  • Container temperature. Per Best Practice
    
    
  
  
  • Cradle alignment (visual)
    
    
  
  
  • Die slide alignment. (visual)
    
    
  
  
  • Press oil temperature - 140 degrees Max.
    
    
  
  
  • Die oven temperature - set within Best Practice Limits
    
    
  
  
  • Condition of dummy block (visual)
    
    
  
  
  
  


• Checks at the end of the charge to ensure the butt has sheared from the die and is clear of the container before starting the next push;
  
  


• Monitors billet furnace for possible overheating and/or melting;
  
  


• Assists the Set-Up man on the die changes; double checks the tooling to insure proper setup and clearance;
  
  


• Checks the extrusion occasionally and reports any defects or discrepancies as necessary to the QI;
  
  


• Checks the amount of end scrap and number of cuts and adjusts billet length occasionally to the end scrap;
  
  


• Runs the necessary billets to prevent a shortage, if he or she knows there is some bad metal on the table, he or she tells the Press Lead;
  
  


• Observes the special notes on the work order (follows up accordingly);
  
  


• Responsible for the work area and keeps the work area clean and orderly always.
  
  

• Must be able to learn basic computer skills;
  
  
• Must pass physical if required to operate mule or crane;
  
  
• Overtime is required if deemed necessary by management;
  
  
• Ability to flex to day shift is required if deemed necessary by management;
  
  

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting on a regular basis;
  
  
• Must be able to stand in one place for extended periods of time.
