Position Description: Applies preparatory materials, paints, and stains to surfaces of walls, ceilings, equipment, and furniture. Prepares and applies appropriate materials to signage and irregular surfaces such as parking lots, streets, and patient room areas. Working conditions include restricted movement, air contamination, dirty environment, hazardous materials, lifting or carrying heavy objects. Will take a key role in providing a physical plant that is safe, clean and environmentally comfortable for patients, staff and visitors.

* Maintains existing paint surfaces through matching and tinting of appropriate paint products.

* Installs, repairs, and maintains drywall, wall texturing, and ceiling acoustic texturing.

* Keeps equipment in good working order.

* Uses and tools and department machinery, taking proper care of equipment, reporting malfunctions, and following safety precautions according to department policies at all times.

* Is knowledgeable and follows the emergency procedures and is responsible in following safety and security procedures (including equipment).

* Completes all orientation and annual requirements according to hospital policy in a timely fashion.

QUALIFICATIONS POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION:

* High School Graduate or GED

EXPERIENCE:

* Previous health care maintenance experience preferred

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques common to the painting trade, knowledge and skill in hazardous materials handling, application, and disposal. Knowledge of text and display requirements or signage applications. Skill in the preparation and application of paints, stains, and surface preparation materials to a wide variety of surfaces. Must know the important aspects of service as pertaining to the Utility Management Program, their role in the Life Safety Program, and the relationship between the Equipment Management Program and the Utility Management Program.
