JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • This position leads and directs clinic-sponsored revenue cycle functions that include charge capture, coding, and edit/denial management; manages coding resources, aligning them with best-in-class performance metrics in specific categories of revenue cycle (productivity, compliance, accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency).

  • The position will have revenue cycle responsibility for multiple clinical specialties.

  • The position reports to PFS leadership.

  • The position will be responsible for fostering and maintaining a collaborative relationship with clinic leadership.

  • Collaborates with finance and clinical leaders during annual budget development.

  • Collaborates with Sections and Clinic Finance for validating and supporting revenue projection is Clinic Section budgets.

  • Attends Section/Finance revenue meetings to ensure quality revenue projections are implemented. Monitors Accounts Receivable performance and coordination communication with Section Leaders related performance results.

  • The role is responsible for establishing, meeting and exceeding operational work flow, productivity and results standards related to the above functions.

  • The position also organizes, manages, and monitors the performance productivity of staff in revenue cycle roles.

  • The position will meet with staff to ensure understanding of department and organizational goals and metrics.

  • The role will monitor compliance to ensure compliance with policies, procedures in accordance with state, federal, and Emory guidelines.

  • Works with their managers to formulate plan for professional development.

  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices and developments.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelors Degree in related field or healthcare required with 7 years healthcare experience or 5 years revenue cycle experience with coding certification, 3 of which must be supervisory OR any combination of equivalent education and experience;

  • OR successful completion of the Management Development Program (MDP) with 18 months of additional supervisory experience.

  • Experience with revenue cycle functions, preferably in both the shared service and clinical Section environments.

  • Experience with revenue cycle functions, preferably in both the shared service and clinical specialty environments.

  • Experience with ambulatory care environments and ability to translate and embed standard operating procedures and processes into the clinical environment is preferred. RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS or CHDA certification preferred.

  • Coding knowledge and experience preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1-10 lbs 0-33% of the work day (occasionally), negligible 34-66% of the workday (frequently), negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly). Lifting 10 lbs max, carrying of small articles such as dockets, ledgers, files, small tools, occasional standing & walking, frequent sitting, close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste. chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, travel may be required, use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
