Title: Director of Sales & Marketing

Located in: East Moline, Chicago or other major Midwest markets

Standard Forwarding, a division of DHL Freight, is a top-quality LTL carrier with 16 terminals spread throughout the Midwest. We provide overnight service within and between Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, as well as St. Louis, MO, Omaha, NE, and southern Michigan.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Sales & Marketing located in St. Paul, MN or Illinois, Indiana or Wisconsin area.  Your efficiency and attention to detail will allow Standard Forwarding, a division of DHL Freight  to make businesses work by delivering on time, every time

Responsibilities:

The director of sales and marketing position is responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.


  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate growth objectives for products and services for a regional LTL carrier.

  • Develops and manages sales/marketing operating budgets.


  • Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.


  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs.


  • Manages a team of 2 regional sales managers and 5+ field sales reps, and sales support staff.


  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.


  • Develops, maintains and fosters strong customers relationships


  • Works closely with Pricing and Finance to advance company’s growth goals


  • Works closely with Ops to develop SOPs and develop solutions for customers


  • Develops and recommends product positioning and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share and profitable growth


Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years of proven sales experience preferable in a LTL, International Supply Chain or similar transportation industry.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role


  • Strong background in asset-based/non-asset based LTL sales including customer contacts and pricing strategy


  • Ability to travel within company territory and some out-of-the-area travel may be expected.


  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing or business administration or equivalent number of years of experience
