Job Description:

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. Southeast Division has an immediate need for a junior IT Professional to serve as Systems Analyst for the Software, Systems and Modeling Sector in Raleigh, NC. The successful applicant will establish operational databases, software configuration control and system interfaces for computer system(s) assigned, maintain file servers, network access, and document and analyze system anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for preparing system for operational use and support operational tests.

In this position, Information Systems Analyst will build, configure and maintain systems that adhere to government regulations.

What you’ll do as a Junior Systems Specialist:

Systems analysts (also known as Information Systems Security Officers, or ISSOs as defined by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, or DCSA) maintains and monitors compliant information systems for use on government contracts.

What you’ll need to be a successful Junior Systems Specialist:

• Active Secret Security Clearance


• Bachelor's Degree along with 0-2 years' of relevant work experience OR 6-8 years' of experience in lieu of a degree


• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Windows 10 administration (setup, support, updates, GPOs)


• At least 1 year of exposure to Windows Servers support (2008, 2012, 2016) and related components (Active Directory, File Server, Group Policy)


• Superb customer service skills with an emphasis on phone support; a sincere desire to help others


• A problem-solver by nature; a natural inclination to learn and come up with the best solution


• Experience with network troubleshooting and administration (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, routers, switches)


• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and executives

Junior Systems Specialist Preferences:

• Cisco experience


• CompTIA Security+ (or able to obtain within 6 months of employment)


• Some scripting knowledge (e.g. powershell)
