Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Data Systems Supervisor 2, this position is responsible for leading, identifying and analyzing business and data requirements, have the ability to facilitate and document future business processes, manage report design sessions and support systems development, testing and delivery efforts. The Business Systems Analyst 4 will act as a project manager on several work streams by working closely with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and project team members to meet project goals, objectives, and deadlines. This position offers considerable responsibility and interaction with key stakeholders from the business units and IT as well as cross functional teams across the organization. The Business Systems Analyst 4 acts as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure. This position functions with a high degree of autonomy; provide leadership to less experienced business systems analysts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

-Use computer equipment for extended periods
-Work with clients for extended periods of time
-Move computer equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

-Must be available for occasional travel/training activities
-Work extended or flexible hours to meet project priorities
-Limited vacation use during peak workload periods
-Travel to and from different locations
-Work in a dynamic, distracting, knowledge-sharing environment
-UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. -This position will have the ability to work remotely during Administrative IT remote work operations.
-Staff stay in touch using a variety of remote work tools such as Zoom, Slack and Skype.
-Must have access to internet to work remotely during Covid remote operations
-Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures/guidelines.
-Maintain strict confidentiality of files and data

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

-Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Experience in developing test, implementation, quality assurance, and contingency plans.
-Experience in developing technical specifications for systems and processes.
-Knowledge of and experience with computer systems, user-interface standards, database management systems, programming languages, program and process modeling, and testing methodologies and strategies.
-Experience in building good internal controls into system to ensure system integrity.
-Skill to query in SQL and/or other ad hoc query tools using the data dictionary to extract and analyze data.
-Analytical skills to map system processes
-Knowledge of architecture and tools for software development, web services, and security services, work flow technology, data repository services, client-server technology.

Preferred:

-This position requires excellent organizational skills to work, plan, coordinate and set priorities effectively and capable of meeting aggressive schedules.
-Written and oral communication skills to organize writing and ideas into a logical format with ideas expressed assertively, clearly and concisely to various levels of business constituents.
-Should be a self-starter and result oriented. Willing to explore opportunities for business process improvement and propose IT enabled solutions.
-Experience with PeopleSoft HCM implementations.
-Knowledge of UNIX and PC operating systems
-Experience in technical project consulting and familiarity with analysis and decision-making processes in higher education environments.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Knowledge and understanding of university, campus, management principles, policies, philosophy, problems and subject matter.
