SCHEDULE: PRN/Per Diem

Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, located on Florida's Emerald Coast, seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Behavioral Health Team! This role will work PRN/ Per Diem as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse is responsible to Charge Nurse and Nursing Director for the delivery of quality patient care utilizing the nursing process. The quality of care given will be in keeping with the philosophy and objectives of the hospital and the Department of Nursing and will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, their families and the community.

The Psychiatric Treatment Center (PTC) is a 48 bed inpatient facility within Fort Walton Beach medical Center that is dedicated to providing quality mental health care. The PTC is located on the first floor and is composed of two separate 24-bed acute care psychiatric units caring for adults 18 years and older who require inpatient psychiatric treatment. The PTC provides treatment for a variety of psychiatric conditions coexisting with medical problems. A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is available as well as a treatment program tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Following a comprehensive evaluation, a plan of care is formulated for each patient based on his/her individual needs including medical, psychiatric, family, and psychosocial components. The objective of this acute treatment is to stabilize patients, improve their functioning, and successfully transition them to their next level of care

Fort Walton Beach Medical Center (FWBMC) is a 267-bed full-service hospital with over 200 of the most highly respected and qualified physicians in the area. It is recognized as a Top General Hospital for excellence in quality care and patient safety. It is the only acute care hospital in the Tri-County area that offers open heart surgery, an Accredited Advanced Primary Stroke Center, an Accredited Chest Pain Center, and a Cancer Care Center that is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and an Associate of the UAB Birmingham Health System Cancer Community Network. Its expanded emergency services include a dedicated Pediatric ER, 24/7 Destin ER, and a full-service 24/7 Fort Walton Beach ER that includes the only Level II Trauma Center in the Tri-County area.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

* Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or BSN required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

* State of Florida RN License required

* BLS - AHA Healthcare Provider required upon hire

* ACLS required within 90 days of hire (for those RN's responsible for post anesthesia recovery of ECT patients)

* CPI required within 90 days of hire

* RN-C preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

* Acute care experience preferred

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

* Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribe physician's orders

* Knowledge of body substance isolation

* Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs

* Basic computer skills
