The Software Systems Management (SSM) Group, within the Nuclear Nonproliferation Division (NND), Oak Ridge National Laboratory, seeks to hire a Software Development Project Manager. NND is a world-class leader in the development and deployment of technology for nuclear security. Partnering with subject matter experts, NND's SSM Group solves complex problems through software solutions including mission-management systems, data collection, materials tracking, and analytical tools.


Main job responsibilities for the position include:
- Leading collaborative teams geared towards software delivery by managing scope, performance, cost, schedule, and risk while exhibiting strong time management and communication skills, team building skills, and adaptability to changing environments
- Proactively and effectively managing expectations for software development team members and stakeholders to fully understand challenges, technical needs, and business requirements
- Synthesizing content in DOE Orders, software development methodologies, and/or other guidance documentation to make appropriate project decisions
- Running daily standups, sprint planning and review meetings, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies
- Developing and maintaining project documentation (e.g., charters, project plans, high-level requirements, etc.)
- Coordinating and maintaining release schedules
- Understanding and guiding system design and technical approach

Basic Requirements
- Demonstrated in-depth expertise in and understanding of managing software development projects in both traditional and Agile environments
- Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Planning and problem-solving expertise
- Collaborative, open, and flexible working style, with an ability to quickly establish relationships, trust, and credibility
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, work multiple projects, and work on several tasks at any given time
- Proven track record of delivering results
- B.S. degree in a computer science field or business discipline with a concentration in information systems management or software engineering
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in a project management role


Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Business with Information Systems concentration, Software Project Management, or related advanced degree field with focus on software engineering
- Current PMP certification
- Experience with Agile lifecycle management tools
- Experience with sensitive data
- Experience mentoring junior staff


Special Requirement:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
