The Supervisor of RN Occupational Health is responsible for the supervision of Occupational Health services to the employees of the Authority provided by direct reports. Provides professional assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Manages all aspects of the care of Authority employees who have been injured on the job. Works directly with the worker compensation carrier, treating provider(s), HR, and employee to facilitate appropriate treatment, return to work and maximum medical improvement for all occupational injuries.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor of RN Occupational Health at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

Coordinates health care provided by the Staff Rn(s) and CMA with a focus on quality outcomes and in collaboration with the Physician Services Provider(s) supporting promotion and restoration of health, as well as the prevention of illness and injury and protection from work-related environmental hazards.
- Responsible for planning and supervision of all aspects of care of employee work related injuries.
- Acts as liaison between employee and workers compensation carrier.
- Coordinates medical care and return to work, including referrals for services (Physical therapy, diagnostic testing, etc.) and specialist.
- Ensures care is delivered with minimal disruptions and obstacles.
- Functions in a Leadership role in addition to supporting daily clinic employee services as needed.
- Performs clinical care professionally and serves as an employee advocate and role model to others.
- Utilizes team approach in orientation of new direct report Occupational Health (OH) Staff and provides key experiences to prepare them for independent performance of essential job functions.
- Supports the Authority in the development and implementation of a Temporary/Transitional Alternate Work (TAW) program.
- Participates in the delivery of cost effective, budget conscious care.
- Participates actively on appropriate committees, workgroups and or meetings as directed by Clinical Manager and/or Director.
- Conducts staff performance reviews as well as any disciplinary actions.
- Seeks guidance from Clinical Manager and/or Director accordingly.
- Unresolved problems are directed to the Clinical Manager and/or Director
- Supports and directs the services provided by the secretary.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 25 lbs. and stands a minimum of 5 hour a day.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3 years RN experience preferably in Occupational Health, Emergency Care/Urgent Care Center or Clinic Setting required
- Computer Literacy required
- Phlebotomy required
- English speaking: Excellent documentation & Communication skills required
- Organized and ability to multitask required
- BSN preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- 2 years Nursing Leadership experience preferred
- 2 years workers compensation case management experience preferred
- EMR experience preferred
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License required.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required.
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse or Certified Occupational Health Nurse - Specialist preferred
