POSITION OBJECTIVES:
Provides testing support to aid process development for various modalities in a fast paced and dynamic team environment. Experience on analytical platforms like ELISA, pCR and CE and understanding of GLP practices is a must. Sound understanding of drug development process for biologics. Collaborates cross functionally to implement high throughput assays and automation. Conducts transfer of in-process assays as well as feasibility studies of new molecules on existing platforms with supervision.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Supports process development by providing analytical testing on ELISA, pCR and CE platform for various molecules and modalities within agreed upon turn-around
Troubleshoots issues as needed with limited supervision
Monitors assay performance to ensure GLP compliance
Maintains equipment and critical reagent inventory
Conducts critical reagent qualification and authors documents
Supports initiatives related to new technology evaluation and implementation in IPA
Supports assay transfers and feasibility studies on existing platforms with supervision as needed
Provide training and mentoring for junior analysts
Present analytical technologies and data at department meetings
Identify and implement improvements to operational processes within function
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Education and Experience:
Required:
Associates degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 4+ years relevant industry experience
Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 2+ years relevant industry experience
Masters degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 0+ years relevant industry experience
Previous experience working in lab setting or Masters degree plus appropriate laboratory training
Experience working in teams
Knowledge and Skills:
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills -Able to troubleshoot critical issues or problems and resolve routine issues using appropriate information.
Teamwork -- Ability to work within department groups/team.
Communication Skills - Expresses one’s self clearly and concisely within function; documents issues and/or concerns concisely with colleagues; timely and effectively communicates issues to supervisor
Organization – Exercises good time management skills
Technical - Proficient in use of applicable lab equipment and operations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to stand and move around in lab for extended period of time
LINE FUNCTION SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
General familiarity with analytical theory and techniques with relevant experience in at least one technique such as ELISA, pCR etc. Able to work in lab setting
Biologics – AD Biochemical: Experience with a variety of standard biochemical analytical techniques, including but not necessarily limited to ELISA, gel or capillary electrophoresis, and/or spectroscopic-based methods. Adept at conducting routine testing and able to conduct limited troubleshooting of multiple methods; Understanding of protein properties. Able to carry out method feasibility and transfer of methods internally for standard methodologies with some supervision. Able to support evaluation of new equipment/technologies. General lab competencies such as equipment maintenance and compliance activities.
Biologics – Purification: Good understanding of chromatographic and other protein separation principles; Familiarity with use of bio separation equipment and standard analytical assays
