POSITION SUMMARY

Supervises a team of Accounts Payable resources.  Ensures all invoices are paid in a timely manner and discounts are properly claimed.  Oversees analyses that support the research and closure of Accounts Payable issues.  Collaborates with Supplier Relations, Accounts Payable, Financial Accounting, and Suppliers to resolve or prevent issues.  Negotiates with suppliers to resolve issues expediently and effectively.  Identifies and documents opportunities for process improvement to mitigate or reduce financial risk.  Provides guidance to team on complex issues and serves as point of escalation to manage toward resolution when necessary.  Reconciles and analyzes a variety of Accounts Payable sub ledgers and general ledgers.  Analyzes data and prepares reports for management. Develops team through training, coaching and mentoring to strengthen skillset on the team and provide for growth and development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Created and review daily & weekly payable schedules. Supervises a team of resources to ensure Accounts Payable are resolved efficiently and effectively with minimal adverse financial impact. Serves as point of escalation for the team on complex issues and discrepancies. Coordinate & communicate on a daily /weekly basis with our Outsource Vendor that processes the A/P inventory invoices, three way manual match process, statements, and discrepancies. Successfully communicates complex issues to suppliers and negotiates balances and process changes with suppliers. Ensures Accounts Payable compliance with Internal Controls as defined by A/P management and Internal Audit. Monitors key metrics; communicates potential risk and exposure areas to management. Initiates and manages risk mitigation projects Prepares analytical schedules of monthly/quarterly and year-end Accounts Payable for management team and as required for audit purposes. Identifies and implements improvements in Accounts Payable processes for increased efficiency ensuring the quality, integrity and commitment is not compromised; documents policies and procedures. Collaborates with internal partners including Rebates, Product Pricing, Supplier Relations, and Accounting to resolve issues.  Identifies trends and communicates potential risk and exposure areas to management; develops and executes a project plan and associated tasks to reduce these risk/exposure areas. Leads special projects, leveraging project management skills, and assumes other leadership roles to support the Accounts Payable Manager.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a focus in business or accounting required

  • Five or more years of directly applicable experience required

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience strongly preferred

  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word experience

  • Previous experience in contracts or rebates preferred
