Applications Engineering Manager
Applications Engineering – Support – Americas
Objective of Role
NI Applications Engineering Managers lead a team of industry aligned Applications Engineers (AEs) in collaboration with NI Sales at focus accounts to deliver on revenue targets with their industry. They do this through continuous development of their teams, facilitating and participating in collaboration between key stakeholders, building relationships directly with customers, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. AE Managers create an environment on their team that inspire mastery of technical skill, drive business impact through ensuring customer success, and impact NI systems and solutions through internal collaboration.
Position Overview
The AE Manager is a front-line manager and has ownership and accountability for their AE team and focused industry. This includes all AE team related activities and functions in the department including hiring, key objectives setting, performance evaluation, employee coaching and development, and acting as an ambassador for the AE group to other parts of the company. Highly effective AE Managers use coaching and mentoring skills to aid their teams in individual and professional growth while also applying their influence on industry strategies directly. Close collaboration with sales and business unit counterparts is expected, where the AE manager enables efficient leverage of specialized resources from other teams when appropriate. AE managers understand and enable priority evaluations, remove barriers, resolve tradeoffs, and act as a business stakeholder in the development of their industry.

· Embodying customer centric mindset and championing the needs of their customers to a diverse set of stakeholders
Basic Qualifications
· Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Engineering
· 5 years of experience in Test and Measurement, Control and Automation industry, or other relevant high-tech industry
· Expertise in building relationships and credibility with customers and employees
· English language competency and strong oral and written communication skills
· Aerospace and Defense industry expertise including processes, trends, and application knowledge
· Domestic US travel (<25% estimated)
· US Citizenship Required
Preferred Qualifications
· 2+ years of successfully managing applications engineering, sales, or relevant customer-facing teams
· 5+ years of experience in a technical customer facing role
· Demonstrates a record of “step-function” increases in results on accounts or operations
