Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages food, supplies, and personnel to ensure that operations for areas of responsibility are performed efficiently and within established budget and quality standards.  Ensures that menus and recipes are strictly followed.  Assures that all equipment and floors are cleaned and disinfected daily.


• Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates staff (in conjunction with the Executive Director).

Supervises and schedules all employees in the foodservice department.

• Keeps records such as inventory, temperature logs, and sanitation inspections.


• Discusses problems with Corporate Food Service Director and follows through on recommendations.


• Contacts maintenance or Executive Director when repairs are needed.


• Fills one of the designated Cook positions.


• Supervises and serves on the serving line to ensure food is displayed attractively and served properly.

Experience and/or training in nutrition, food preparation, and food service management.  Ability to supervise other employees, perform detailed work involving math calculations, problem solve, handle emergency situations, work flexible shifts, read and understand menus, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and the ability to do multiple tasks at one time.

Must enjoy working with the elderly and able to accept constructive criticism.  Ability to interact with residents who are highly susceptible to common illness without posing additional health risks and must maintain good personal hygiene and wear a uniform.
