Your Responsibilities

As an HR Representative for John Deere located in Valley City, ND, you will perform a variety of activities within the Human Resources area to support the unit. You will be responsible for providing support to managers and supervisors in areas such as compensation, staffing, employee development, and employee engagement. This is an HR professional focusing on information and facts and responding to requests for information.


  • Provide information to employees and managers regarding routine questions and issues.
  • Participate in the compensation and benefits process by gathering information, preparing paperwork, and other activities to support the process.
  • Conduct/coordinate the delivery of training courses utilizing both internal and external resources to provide tools to meet needs. Typically certified to deliver a variety of Deere approved courses.
  • Gather and compile data to support compliance efforts such as legal requirements, Health and Safety, and other such areas.
  • Perform a variety of non-routine activities within Human Resources to support major processes such as compensation and benefits, staffing and employee development, training and development, safety and health, legal compliance, and employee communications.
  • Utilize Human Resource tools such as SAP and Business Objects to view and extract data used to respond to requests for information.
  • Assist in staffing and workforce planning activities such as establishing job requirements, candidate selection, and interviewing for various levels of responsibility.

What Skills You Need


  • Experience in an HR Operations and/or Employee Relations role
  • Experience with HR principles and procedures in such areas as compensation and benefits, employee/labor relations, staffing, training, and employee development, safety and health, employee communications, and legal and corporate compliance
  • Experience and understanding of HR policies and practice
  • High level of personal integrity and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters
  • Ability to make sound decisions and understand the implications of decisions made
  • Ability to operate as an inclusive employee and is aware of, and embraces, diversity of thought, cultural differences, can act as the voice of employees
  • Experience and proven ability to work independently and manage multiple, detailed activities at a time
  • Experience with verbal and written communication

  • Skills in utilizing tools and software that supports Human Resource processes
  • Experience coaching and counseling employees/supervisors on HR-related topics
  • Experience running payroll
  • Ability to collect data, interpret results and communicate/present findings
  • Experience with Federal and State Employment Law
  • Experience with advising employees on company-provided benefits

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources
