Underwriting Process Manager II

A home lending Underwriting Process Manager will help promote and drive business strategies through the UW process improvement channel. By focusing on business process analysis, the underwriting process manager II role will help ensure business goals and initiatives are delivered accurately and with excellence, while abiding by our core business values. The underwriting process manager II will drive analysis of current and future business practices, seek to optimize processes, and seek improvement from all home lending lines of business.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

•Participates in the development of goals and execution of strategies within a function or department

•In an individual contributor role, functions as a key contributor with demonstrated knowledge of area of specialization as well as broader functional knowledge.

•Day to day focus is on production and development initiatives. Resolution of problems or transactions where expertise is required to interpret or administer policies, guidelines or processes.

•Frequently contributed to projects/ complex assignments with supervision.

•Ensures projects are completed according to established timelines and budget.

•Participates on cross-functional teams representing functional area.

•Duties may include, but are not limited to developing risk mitigation plans, conversions, and process improvement actions, all from beginning stages through completion.

•Also includes gathering and analyzing complex data, developing and implementing improvement recommendations.

•Subject matter expert for specific functions, programs, and processes.

•Handles complex analysis, identifying risks and opportunities with solution recommendations for their functional area of expertise

•Leads decision-making or makes tactical decisions for others according to defined processes and procedures.

•May manage employees

Knowledge and Experience:

• At least 5 years' Mortgage industry experience.

• Preferred 4 years' experience in decision making and project management experience.

• Preferred 4 years' demonstrated success in managing workflow design, developing procedures, and managing change.

• Preferred 4 years' experience utilizing process improvement methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, LEAN)

• Passion for excellence and attention to detail

• Lending Authority and/or participation on bank Credit Committees

• Experience developing and collecting data to support performance metrics.

• Bachelor's degree preferred

• Prior experience in Credit Policy, Underwriting or Operations leadership preferred.

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.

• Demonstrated high energy and drive with a high degree of personal accountability.

• Functions well in ambiguity, while taking the initiative to create positive change through innovation

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

• Create & present a project storyboard to clearly explain the what, why & how the project the completed.

• Solicit feedback on project leadership performance and continuously improve the project leadership process.
