Position Summary:

Power Transmission Solutions is a division of Regal and is a major producer of mechanical power transmission drives, Bearings and components. This position is within our Bearings and Components technology team focusing primarily on IoT sensor development. This position will be responsible for designing IoT sensors enabled products working closely with sensor development team.

Major Responsibilities:


  • Concept design, detailed design, calculations, creating specifications of sensor enabled products to meet policy deployment targets.


  • Incorporate inputs provided by software and hardware development team in the designs in areas like user interfaces, mobile, web applications, enclosures, footprints data capturing, reporting and analysis.


  • Provide support in documentation for certifications and compliance (UL, ATEX, CSA, Ingress Protections, REACH, RoHS, WEEE..)


  • Support New Product Development by preparing engineering documentation for running sensor projects through stage gate process.


  • Understand manufacturing process, process capabilities and work on tolerance stack-ups using knowledge of components and assemblies used and intended function.


  • Provide support for creating test plan for lab testing and simulation using tools like Finite Element Analysis to validate the concepts and final designs.


  • Support Application Engineering for creating sensor unit installations instructions.


  • Generate intellectual property for sensors and sensor enabled products.


  • Work on competitor analysis, benchmarking and keep up to date on industry trends, advancements in sensor technology.


Education:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with training or exposure on sensors.


  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in design of electro-mechanical products/assemblies; unit material handling market experience preferred


  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point


  • Above average verbal and written communication skills


  • Proficient with drawings and models.


  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis is a plus.


  • Prior sensor development experience is a plus.


  • Ability to get along well with others


  • Can effectively function in a matrix and team environment
