POSITION OVERVIEW

Implements tactical strategies for profitable growth. Develops products by identifying potential products; conducting market research; generating product requirements; determining specifications, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction; developing marketing strategies. Works to understand product synergies to facilitate complexity reduction, product pruning and overall portfolio management.

JOB DESCRIPTION (Key Responsibilities):


  • Manages the product life cycle from new product introduction through product maturation continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.


  • Take ultimate responsibility for the success or failure of the product line


  • Manage all aspects of job using Pareto principle (80/20) methodology and assist in driving the organizational culture and procedures to support it.



  • Develops product pricing strategies and manages the daily activities of the assigned team to drive maximum profit and sales.
  • Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Drives the most complex and/high value products into the market at maximum profit and sales.
  • Prepares and coaches sales team on product application information, product initiatives, and profitability equations.
  • Serves as a resource and partner with Sales during long-term contract negotiations.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Obtains product market share by working with sales director to develop product sales strategies.
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, marketing, and production.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


  • Education: Four year university degree: preferred in Business Management and/or Marketing. MBA Preferred.


  • Experience: Knowledge of power transmission industry: preferred minimum 5 years' experience in Sales/Marketing/Manufacturing environment (or Industrial Marketing).


  • Product Management, People Management, Understanding the Customer, Product Development, Requirements Analysis, Pricing, Planning, Competitive Analysis, Sales Planning, Inventory Control, Financial Planning and Strategy


  • Computer Skills:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point

    - Microsoft CRM Dynamic (not required)



  • A personable, enthusiastic and engaging personality.


  • Ambitious and demonstrates initiative.


  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.


  • Ability to get along with others.


  • Can effectively function in a matrix and team environment.
