Job Description:

The Advanced Sensor Systems and Test Beds Group (Group 33) develops and demonstrates advanced sensor system and command and control concepts incorporating emerging technologies in autonomy, distributed systems, signal and data processing algorithms, architectures and techniques. Major activities within the group include system concept development for RF and optical systems, modeling and simulation, signal processing algorithm design, RF and optical system design and development, experimental field testing and data analysis and development of one-of-a-kind operational and experimental test assets. The group has expertise in adaptive sensor array processing for both radar and communications, advanced real-time software techniques, signal detection and estimation, communications, and systems analysis. The group conducts a significant amount of field testing and data collection to prove new concepts and collaborates with other groups throughout the Laboratory for real-time prototype implementation, experiment execution, and systems analysis.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Group 33 is seeking an electrical engineer specializing in radar signal processing is needed to perform data analysis and develop signal processing algorithms for novel radar systems. The candidate would perform these duties for a variety of different radar systems, including over-the-horizon radars, airborne surveillance and fire-control radars, and instrumentation quality radars that are deployed at various national test ranges. The successful candidate must be able to use multiple methods to analyze radar data from novel phased-array radar systems and then use various signal processing techniques to extract target signals while addressing issues of calibration, suppression of ground clutter, target detectability, localization, and tracking. These processing techniques include space-time adaptive processing, TDOA and FDOA techniques, and Kalman filtering.

Requirements:

* PhD in Electrical Engineering or related technical field with experience in radar signal processing or MS in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of experience in radar signal processing.

* Candidate should have extensive experience in several of the following fields: HF radar and communications, adaptive signal processing, space-time adaptive processing, Kalman filtering, radar systems analysis, CFAR detection, bistatic radar, real-time signal processing, and flight test mission planning and execution.

* MATLAB programming experience is required.

* Candidate must be able to propose and explore new and innovative techniques and technologies and be able to understand how these technologies can affect an existing radar system's capabilities.

* Effective communication with colleagues, sponsors, and other research field sites. Candidate must have good organizational skills with the ability to complete assignments working independently and in a team environment, and effectively present results.
