Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Dental Practice Manager, performs a variety of front office and auxiliary duties necessary to the proficient operation of the Student Health Dental Clinic, included but not limited to scheduling, patient data entry, insurance benefits verification, treatment estimate presentations, dental hygiene recall, processing payments for services rendered, entering procedures into Dentrix. This position requires a motivated, enthusiastic and friendly individual with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Compensation Range:

Hourly $20.73 - $23.50

Required:

General Knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Experience in the Dental field.

Knowledge of dental terminology and tooth numbering.

Proficiency in using computers, including dental management software.

Effective reading comprehension and writing skills.

Excellent telephone etiquette.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and a high volume of phone calls in a fast-paced working environment.

Ability to understand and adhere to established appointment scheduling guidelines.

Desired:

Knowledge of Dentrix software, highly desirable.

Knowledge of dental coding.

Special Conditions:

Although this position's schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, weekends or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In the case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours.

Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring of licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position.

The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccinations and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening. At the discretion of the Student Health Center, the employee may be offered an option to sign a declination acknowledgment in lieu of receiving an annual flu vaccination.

Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.
