SUMMARY:
The Global Genetics Technical Services team is searching for a motivated and energetic scientist to provide technical expertise and leadership in the application of genomic technologies in dairy and beef cattle in the U.S. Provide technical sales support to local technical and sales colleagues and their customers in support of their respective businesses. Serve as subject matter expert and resource for Zoetis colleagues, commercial partners and key opinion leaders. Work extensively with sales and marketing colleagues, livestock producers, and stakeholder groups to ensure proper positioning and support of genomic technologies. Serve as a resource to translate complexities of genomic technologies into clear understanding of practical applications and impacts for colleagues and customers. Lead applied research projects in support of the genetics portfolio. Collaborate with strategic partners to implement and maintain commercialized genomic technologies. Provide technical input and review for business strategy, new product development, and development of value propositions for commercialized technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide technical expertise and support of genomics technologies and associated products to US and Mexico sales, marketing and technical service groups
* Provide technical support of genetics sales and customer inquiries
* Provide consulting services as appropriate / needed to customers and external partners to drive greater understanding and adoption of genomic solutions
* Coordinate technical elements of new product implementation and product revisions in the US market and in collaboration with strategic commercial partners (e.g., breed societies and genetic evaluation providers)
* Liaise with relevant local key opinion leaders in industry and academia to help ensure Zoetis Genetics and its commercial partners can deliver leading genomic technologies to livestock producers
* Provide educational support for internal and external stakeholders as it relates to the use of genomic technologies generally, and Zoetis products specifically, in livestock production
* Contribute to the development and distribution of decision support aids that help producers implement genomic data and understand the associated economic benefits
* Ensure the technical competency of technical sales support colleagues in Zoetis US and Mexico
* Ensure the technical accuracy of all marketing, promotion, and educational materials as it relates to the features and use of genetics products and services
* Ensure the technical accuracy of proposed reporting and decision support instruments
* Provide technical and analytical support as requested to Laboratory Operations and Customer Services in response to customer inquiries and to support investigation of process deviations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Master s degree and/or PhD in Animal Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, or similar field of study is strongly preferred
* 5+ years of experience in dairy management/consulting/sales in US dairy industry
* Experience in genetic evaluation systems preferred; strong analytical skills including use of common genetic / genomic and statistical software packages
* Experience in commercial application of genomic technologies and technological adoption is preferred
* Experience working with livestock producers and stakeholder organizations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Good command of verbal and written English and Spanish languages is required
* Ability to work in diverse environment and lead cross-functional projects / teams
* Thorough understanding of the use of information, including genomic data, to support genetic improvement strategies in contemporary livestock production
* Excellent presentation skills
* Proven track record of performance
* Skilled in conducting research and using existing knowledge to resolve inquiries
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, self-directed team-based environment subject to changing priorities and short deadlines
* Strong attention to detail
TRAVEL:
* This position requires frequent travel, principally within U.S. and Mexico, estimated to be 50-70% of the time.
