Summary:

Under the direction of the program and CFY supervisor, provides diagnostic, therapeutic and educational services to patients and their families, and participates in departmental/hospital education meetings.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

- Staff will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.

- Performs all duties within the guidelines outlined by the Professional Services Board of the American Speech Hearing Association.

- Provides patient care.

- Provides diagnostic, therapeutic and educational services for patients, and their families.

- Selects and administers standardized and informal assessment procedures.

- Prepares evaluation reports, daily and therapeutic progress notes in a timely manner and distributes reports appropriately.

- Performs basic pure-tone audiometric screenings and makes appropriate referrals.

- Provides administrative support.

- Maintains complete and accurate statistical records regarding daily clinical activities.

- Attends department staff meetings.

- Completes requirements outlined by ASHA for completion of Clinical Fellowship Year.

- Educational Responsibilities:

- Keeps abreast of current research findings in the filed of disability Speech-Language Pathology through conference attendance, professional readings, and in-services.

Non-Essential Job Responsibilities:

Essential Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, and Training Requirements):

- M.S. or M.A. in Speech Pathology granted by an accredited university program.

- Licensure with the State of Michigan.

- Possesses and maintains CPR certification to meet department/program protocol.

- Physical Demands: The physical ability to lift, position, and transport patients; the ability to constantly sit, occasionally stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, grasp, reach, and frequently use hands for grasping; to hear, speak, write, and see (correctable vision); to frequently lift 1-10 pounds, and occasionally lift 11-100+ pounds; to frequently carry 1-10 pounds and occasionally carry 11-35 pounds; to occasionally push anywhere from 1-100 pounds; to occasionally pull up to 35 pounds; to exert up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-20 pounds of force frequently, and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly.

Other Preferred Job Qualifications:

- One or more hospital graduate affiliations or related experience.
