Production Technician, Upstream Processing at New England Biolabs, Inc. in Ipswich, Massachusetts

Job Description:

New England Biolabs, Inc. (NEB) is seeking a Production Technician to assist in upstream processing supporting commercial manufacturing at NEB. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible microbial cell disruption and lysate clarification. This position also requires supporting all aspects of fermentation processes including microbial cell harvest, buffer/media preparation and operation of processing equipment and equipment maintenance. The candidate will follow established, documented methodologies and work within a fast-paced, multi-faceted, team-oriented environment.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Work independently and as a team performing large scale microbial cell disruption using microfluidizer technology.


  • Lysate clarification using disk-stack and tubular bowl centrifugation.


  • Manufacture media and solutions to support production staff.


  • Operate and troubleshoot inline buffer dilution manufacturing skids.


  • Take in-process measurements; perform routine quantitative and qualitative biological and chemical analysis; and assist with assays.


  • Follow established manufacturing protocols using controlled documents while maintaining accurate documentation of all processes performed.


  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.


 

Required Qualifications and Experience:


  •  Bachelor’s degree in the sciences.


  • Hands on experience with cell processing equipment and protocols including sanitization, general operation, and troubleshooting.


  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, and to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


  • Exceptional attention to detail.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.


  • Ability to work hours necessary to meet manufacturing needs, structured around a M-F first shift schedule.


  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.


 

Preferred Qualifications:


  •  Two plus years of industrial experience.


  • Controlled documentation software and SAP experience
