Objective:
The Oncology Trade & Distribution team has ownership for the Specialty Pharmacy and Distributor networks across the Oncology portfolio. The Channel Strategy & Operations Lead, is responsible for ensuring the success of Takeda’s Oncology products by creating cross-functional specialty distribution strategies and leading projects that deliver on economics & business priorities while improving the patient & HCP experience. The Strategy & Ops Lead will design, model, test and operationalize strategic initiatives that deliver best-in-class therapy distribution for Takeda’s in-line and pipeline products. Working with specialty pharmacies, distributors and internal Patient Services, Account Executives, Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance and Legal teams, she/he will be involved all aspects of the Specialty Pharmacy and Distributor networks.
Strategy
Create & implement the short & long-term channel strategy for current and launch products.
Lead network change implementation plans that minimize patient or HCP disruption while strengthening overall network.
Create and onboard patient support programs within the commercial networks that are in line with brand & organizational objectives
Develop contract strategy for distributors and specialty pharmacies
Network across Takeda’s therapeutic business segments to increase consistency and adopt best practices
Provide strategic insight for key marketplace dynamics and proactively report back to senior management key issues and opportunities in the specialty market.
Evaluate competitive activity and identify key opportunities to develop account objectives to increase sales, margin, and market share.
Stay abreast of industry standards evaluate impact of market changes.
Collaborate with organizational partners; Patient Services, Government Pricing, Legal, Finance, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Medical, Supply Chain, Account Directors
Inform leadership and stakeholders; trends, changes, and new policy issues that could affect Takeda’s business strategies
Operations
Lead contract operations, negotiations, and internal contract approval workflows
Support existing processes including; Returns, Data Integration and Financial Ops
Lead cross-functional project teams that operationalize strategic initiatives
Represent the Trade & Distribution team on Takeda’s work groups & project teams
Assess current operation and recommend areas for improvement
Work with third party vendors such as consultants and market research firms to assist department’s efforts in launching new products and implement marketing initiatives
Represent Takeda at Industry conferences, on key committees and task forces to help solidify our presence and contribution within the Oncology Market.
Required:
BS/BA Degree required
8+ years of relevant experience preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
Demonstrated teamwork and leadership including and the ability to influence without positional authority
Comfort challenging conventional wisdom and speaking truth to authority
Effective and agile decision making and problem-solving skills
Excellent analytical skills and ability to effectively utilize available market data to understand all aspects of the market access channel landscape
Proven business and strategic acumen creating business proposals and supporting recommendations
Superior written, oral, and group communication skills
Must understand US pharmaceutical operations, healthcare and reimbursement landscape.
Proven success in developing and gaining executive level approval of contract business cases including the rigorous financial analytics needed to support those business cases
Preferred:
Advanced degree
Experience working in Legal, Finance, Government Pricing, or other pharma industry roles
