This person will be responsible for managing and top-editing the day-to-day content produced for ELLEDecor.com by our integrated print/digital staff, which will include coverage of daily news, in-depth home features, and search-optimized service stories and shoppable roundups, among others, with a focus on meeting and exceeding our monthly traffic goals. The ideal candidate will have razor-sharp editing skills, strong news judgment, an insatiable curiosity, a keen eye for good design, and experience in a fast-paced digital environment, ideally for a shelter publication or website. This position reports to the Editor in Chief of ELLE Decor. Please note: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in .pdf format along with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio of work.

What you’ll do

• Plot out coverage on a weekly and monthly basis, strategizing with the team to ensure a lively, engaging mix of articles and features

• Top-edit all daily web content and social-media posts, including the packaging and reediting of our monthly print-first content for the website and Instagram

• Coordinate and approve pitches from the team, and write web stories of your own as needed

• Liaise with our marketing, audience development, e-commerce, and branded content teams to help execute cross-platform initiatives and meet shared goals

• Act as the point person for our SEO content and develop best practices and growth strategies in conjunction with Hearst’s SEO team

Who you are

• Have at least 7 years of digital-media experience, ideally within the shelter/design category

• Possess top-notch editing and writing skills

• Offer deep knowledge of and passion for the world of interior design

• Have a robust and diverse network of freelance writers to call upon as needed for periodical assignments

• Understand traffic and analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Omniture, Google Trends, Chartbeat, and more

• Bring strong visual and photo research skills, including knowledge of video production
