The Operations Manager, Security Servicesreflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Operations Manager, Security Servicesmanages security operations and systems for a 6+ million square foot hospital, commercial, residential and parking portfolio in downtown Chicago. The Manager is accountable for the campus security strategy, emergency preparedness and response, oversight for the security team, maintaining campus security systems, and partners with all outside law enforcement agencies. The Manager also supports the long term strategies encompassing security operations in all owned buildings.
The portfolio under management includes properties on the Streeterville campus and numerous off campus facilities throughout metropolitan Chicago as well as outlying suburban clinical facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and maintains all Security Operations and Systems related to the 6+ million square foot NMHC hospital, commercial and residential real estate portfolio
- Ensures the security, safety and customer service for patients, visitors, physicians and employees.
- Responds definitively and effectively to campus security breaches. Oversees security incident response planning and investigation of breaches; assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches.
- Manages to the annual budget and management plan for NMH Security Services portfolio. Ensures the day-to-day operations align with the strategic and operational goals for the campus.
- Partners with Facilities Planning and Construction and contractors to effectively design and implement the Security Services physical security standards into all new and renovation construction.
- Identifies and eliminates security risks
- Develops and maintains relationships with key internal partners to ensure public safety within and around NMH properties
- Supports major security related projects and physical security technologies, including various card key access systems, alarm systems, video surveillance systems, security services, IT and data security systems and various other related systems.
- Complies with security compliance with regulatory standards, including Environment of Care (EOC), Joint Commission and Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA).
- Ensures integrity and timely reporting of security metrics to leadership
- Partners with all external law enforcement agencies carrying out duties within NMH properties
- Complies with security laws, regulations, and contract requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other issuers of security requirements.
- Responsible for all physical security including but not limited to CCTV, card access system, radios, lock hardware, safes, code blue, security operations center (SOC) technology, ERS system, infant security system (Hugs) and Everbridge.
- Create and maintain a physical security inventory of all systems and devices.
- Responsible for security policy, procedures, programs and guidelines.
- Create and maintain physical security standards for security services.
- Responsible for research and development of physical security programs and technology.
- Manages contracted employee population, including operations related staff.
Additional functions:
- Supports programs based on strategic security services initiatives at the local or system level
- Serve as security leader liaison with other hospital systems, law enforcement, and security organizations (IAHSS, ASIS, etc.) to learn and share best practices.
- Promotes and maintains a positive and constructive working environment.
- As assigned, this position will cover for in the absence of the security services director.
- Complies with security laws, regulations, and contract requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other issuers of security requirements.
- Complies with security compliance with regulatory standards, including Environment of Care (EOC), Joint Commission and Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA).
- Other responsibilities as designated in support of organizational priorities

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 5 years' of management experience, preferably 3-5 in healthcare industry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
- Proven financial management skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong process improvement and project management skills
Preferred:
- Master's degree in related field
- Military and/or Law Enforcement Experience
- Strong negotiating skills
