The Division of Academic General Pediatrics at Nemours/duPont Hospital for Children (AIDHC), is seeking a mid-career established pediatric researcher to join a diverse, talented, inter-disciplinary team of clinicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, physician scientists, and physician educators.

The Division shares a passion and commitment to transform the delivery of primary care and cultivate academic general pediatricians aligned with Nemours’ mission (To provide leadership, institutions and services to restore and improve the health of children through care and programs not readily available, with one high standard of quality and distinction regardless of the recipient's financial status). We aim to expand our scholarly footprint and foster an academic mission of excellence to complement Nemours’ superb clinical programs, innovative educational programs, and population health-focused academic and community partnerships. This expansion of the Division’s academic mission is accompanied by an institutional commitment of resources to support faculty academic work, including research assistant(s), study coordinators, bio-statistical and administrative support.

We are seeking an academic leader with a funded research program and successful mentoring of junior colleagues and trainees to join our group and work closely with Division leadership to lead research efforts embedded within the Nemours Delaware Valley research environment. The Division of Academic General Pediatrics is clinically and academically productive with an on-site thriving ambulatory primary care site, a robust inpatient teaching hospitalist service and surgical co-management service, a highly regarded and nationally published child abuse care team, and an innovative collaborative model of APRN/NP inpatient and outpatient clinical care. The Division supports two fellowships, one in Academic General Pediatrics and one in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

The Division has a Research Budget supporting select faculty, research assistants, collaborators, and general expenses with the goal of expanding and increasing the Division’s scholarly footprint and academic preeminence. The Nemours primary care network in the Delaware Valley, under the umbrella of the Nemours Value-Based Services Organization (VBSO), leverages 20 outpatient practices and over a hundred thousand patient lives for clinical and translational research. The VBSO has teams specializing in Data Analytics, Population Health, and Care Coordination/Management working to improving the care of this population.

Nemours Department of Biomedical Research encompasses wet and dry lab facilities on and within 2 miles of main campus, a nationally recognized Center for Health Care Delivery Science, and a nationally recognized Center for Healthcare Innovation. Nemours is part of PEDSnet and our Division is a CORNET participant. The outpatient practice within the hospital and the Division specializes in the care of children with medical complexity, and we seek researchers to work with this population as well as our general pediatric patient population for new, foundational, and innovative clinical and/or translational research opportunities.

The ideal candidates would hold an MD/DO, PhD, ScD, or DrPH degree. If an MD or DO, candidates should be Board Certified in General Pediatrics. Completion of an Academic General Pediatrics Fellowship is preferred. Research experience is a requirement of the position. Leadership experience is preferred. The individual filling this position would be expected to pursue collaborative scholarly work, mentor and coach the 25-30 faculty members in the Division, and to have a proven track record of external funding. Opportunities for clinical work in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting are available and preferred. The successful candidate would qualify for a faculty position at the rank of Associate or full Professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and would also be expected to mentor trainees (fellows and residents).
