Greenskeeper

The Greenskeeper is responsible for the operation of light motorized equipment and hand tools to maintain the golf course and surrounding landscape in varied weather conditions.  Greenskeeper 1 is the entry level, but more advanced positions are available depending on experience.  This position works under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate mechanical equipment including but not limited to walk mowers, weed trimmers, utility vehicles, bunker rakes, blowers and push mowers


• Complete set-up procedures which include mowing turf, changing cups, changing tee marker positions, filling divots, and preparing sand traps prior to play


• Maintain healthy lawn and landscape areas by accurately applying mulch, water, fertilizer, seed, sod and grooming when needed


• Prepare soil beds for sod, seed and other materials


• Plant trees, shrubs, turn grass and flowers


• Maintain a clean landscape environment through weed, trash, debris removal and cleanup


• Incorporate safe work policies in job performance and wear proper PPE in compliance with company policies


• Assist in drainage, irrigation and renovation of projects


• Perform pre and post operational inspections of equipment


• Clean equipment, shop yard and maintenance building area


• Other duties as assigned by supervisors

• Ability to multi-task in a faced paced, high pressure environment


• Able to work non-traditional work shifts (hours), weekends and holidays

Minimum Qualifications

• High School or GED


• General knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in golf course and landscape maintenance work


• Prior landscape, golf course maintenance experience preferred


• Flexibility to learn and complete new tasks as directed by supervisors


• Ability to manage tools and equipment in extreme weather conditions


• Ability to be on one’s feet for long periods of time


• Ability to bend, reach, stoop when necessary


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., performing physical activities that require moving one’s whole body, such as in reaching, stooping, climbing, lifting, balancing, and walking


• Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects


• Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects


• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs


• Able to work outside in unprotected cold, wind, rain, damp, or hot weather


• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees, club members, and guests


• Spanish speaking is a plus


• Flexible availability as needed to support golf course operations

Compensation

 

Starting pay for this position is $15/hour.  Additional pay will depend on experience.
