What you will be doing: 


  • Oversee the management and functionality of the Commercial Loan Underwriting team with regard to the following: process, coordinating and assigning daily work assignments, performing pipeline reviews and projects.

  • Ensure that all commercial applications are underwritten in accordance with JOVIA’s policies and procedures as well as those dictated by NCUA and the SBA.

  • Review all necessary underwriting information to determine the degree of risk involved and the proper premium for acceptable risks. Accepts risks that meet underwriting standards and declines those which do not, within assigned scope of broad underwriting authority.

  • Expert knowledge of and ability to interpret tax returns (personal and business) and other forms of income, asset and expense documentation.

  • Ability to understand and analyze real estate purchase contracts, title reports, as well as flood certifications and property appraisals.

  • Responsible for attaining premium, loss ratio and LAE, commission ratio self-audit and service goals as assigned.

What we need from you:


  • Four year degree strongly preferred, formal credit training required with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial lending. Minimum of no less than ten (5) years commercial loan underwriting experience is a must. 

  • Possess exceptional underwriting and personnel management skills.

  • Individual must function with minimum supervision, have a positive attitude, and impart a team player mentality.

  • Well versed in Microsoft Word and Excel. Detail oriented, excellent analytical skills, aptitude for figures,

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer/Internet savvy.

  • Well versed in all Regulatory Compliance.
