Staff in IT Engineering are responsible for researching, designing, developing, documenting, testing and deploying new technologies in order to enhance credit union operations. They develop and apply models, processes, tools, standards, road maps and methodologies to support the organization’s technical infrastructure as it relates to systems, networks, servers, storage, databases, and telecommunications. They ensure that new systems are implemented with adequate capacity and appropriate business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.
Advanced IT professional providing technical leadership in multiple areas of the organization’s technical infrastructure and effectively contributing to technology innovation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as a key technical resource and expert for multiple areas of the technical infrastructure. Provides training and documentation for day-to-day support teams on backups, performance monitoring/tuning, proactive capacity planning, Disaster Recovery, granting user privileges/access, hardware/server/application/service monitoring, patching/updating, and group policy administration.
Creates technical blueprints, translating logical architecture into physical specifications. Directs and oversees the implementation effort.
Troubleshoots most problems within assigned area(s), providing fault isolation and resolution that may be complicated by technology interdependency. Analyzes cross-technology/platform issues and addresses problems factoring in an understanding of the current and future architecture.
Leads the evaluation of new technologies relative to their domain(s). Proposes technology investments supported by a thorough technical analysis and business case.
Serves as a leading participant in industry forums, bringing new technical information into the organization and disseminating it to appropriate IT colleagues.
Specifies the monitoring points to assess performance of technologies in their domain(s). Recommends the necessary actions to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Develops disaster recovery and contingency goals for their areas of expertise.
Provides guidance and technical coaching to less experienced staff.
Provides input to RFI and RFP process related to their areas of expertise.
Interacts with major providers at the technical expert level to address mission critical issues.
Minimum formal education required for this position:
BS in a technical field or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Post-graduate classes beneficial
Minimum work experience:
8+ years of relevant experience (networking, security, systems administration, Disaster Recovery, Citrix server administration, storage technology, server management, databases, etc.)
Technical or specialized knowledge/skills:
Certifications Required:
None required.
CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, MCSA/MCSE/MCSM, CISSP, CCA/CCEE/CCIA, and/or VCP preferred
Environmental, physical and psychological requirements:
Starting Salary Range: $86,000+
