Electrician, Statehouse Maintenance Technician at STATE OF OHIO in Columbus, Ohio

Job Description:

Under supervision, maintains and utilizes knowledge of
National Electrical Code & National Fire Protection Association standards
in all work assignments; installs, modifies, maintains & repairs electrical
wiring systems, fixtures, controls & equipment (e.g., electric panels,
conduits, motors, appliances, fans, transformers, heating & cooling
equipment, fire & other alarm/emergency systems, elevators &/or
switches); installs & replaces lighting fixtures (e.g., light bulbs;
ballasts; switches; fuses; exterior &/or perimeter lighting); tests,
installs &/or maintains fire alarm systems &/or security systems (e.g.,
sprinkler systems; smoke detectors; infrared sensors); prepares material &
cost estimates for maintenance projects; utilizes proper safety equipment for
electrical work; lifts up to 50lbs. repeatedly; reads sketches, blueprints
& technical diagrams to troubleshoot, repair or modify electrical systems
or equipment; estimates & plans required work for completion; provides technical
support & assists in development of preventative maintenance programs &
procedures to maintain all facility electrical systems, equipment &
devices; order parts equipment & materials; maintains inventory of
electrical supplies; responds to systems emergency situations 24 hrs/day, 7
days/week which may require overtime or call back.

Completes semi-skilled building maintenance details (e.g.,
carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, painting & general maintenance repair);
troubleshoot, repair or install related equipment & buildings systems; oversees
contract workers within facility to ensure contract objectives are met; completes
various preventive maintenance tasks to extend life cycle facility assets.

Conducts inspections & reports findings; inspects
buildings, assets & equipment on a continuous basis for needed repairs,
replacements, building damages, asset failure or other related maintenance
needs; writes work order to report findings; attends training as required; uses
personal protective equipment as required. Other duties as assigned.

18 months training or 18 months verifiable experience in
electrical work under supervision of experienced electrician; formal education
in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication &
division & in reading & writing common English vocabulary. Or
equivalent training/experience.
