What you will do

At Johnson Controls,  Plant Managers are people-supportive leaders who drive for results, improves processes, and develops strong teams.  
 
As a Plant Manager for one of Johnson Controls' flagship manufacturing facilities you will develop and execute manufacturing strategies that support the company’s business strategy and assure a zero-harm workplace, excellent customer service and best possible conversion cost. 
 
How you will do it  


  • Develop and implement long and short range plans and policies in support of manufacturing, division, and group goals 

  • Manages all financial functions at the facility. Prepares budgets, forecasts, and control expenditures in accordance with the approved plans and budgets 

  • Plans and directs through subordinate levels of management all safety, engineering, quality, materials, production, human resource, continuous improvement, launch, regulatory, and maintenance operations required to achieve customer and internal requirements 

  • Maintains close surveillance over operations to assure coordination and integration of work flow, budgetary conformance, schedules and optimum utilization of personnel, machines, equipment and facilities 

  • Responsible for the accuracy and interpretation of all operations performance data, reports, and action plans to ensure effective communication while maximizing operational performance 


  • Implement world class techniques such as Johnson Controls Manufacturing Systems (JCMS), cell manufacturing, and process control 

  • Manages employee workforce in manner to encourage employee involvement/participation with emphasis on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. 

  • Participates heavily in internal and external customer relations by promoting a sound relationship and to act as liaison between them and the plant to solve problems which have or might arise. 

  • Administers company policy, rules and actions as required. 

What we look for  
Required 


  • BS degree in Industrial or Mfg. Engineering, Industrial Management or related technical or business degree. 

  • 10 years of foundational manufacturing experience with progressive leadership and significant roles in manufacturing disciplines including mfg. engineering, continuous improvement, materials management and production management.  

  • Previous Plant Management experience is required. 

  • Experience with “make-to-order”/high-mix manufacturing in a project driven environment. 

  • Highly trained and experienced in continuous improvement/lean.  

  • Experience managing capital projects. 


  • Knowledge and experience in world class manufacturing techniques including Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing with strong track record of making substantive improvements in operational performance. 

  • Demonstrated experience developing budgets and managing financial performance. 

  • The ability to travel 5% of the time. 

  • Good interpersonal skills, especially as they apply to communication and conflict resolution. He/she will be able to work together with internal stakeholders in a multi-functional matrix organization and with external customers.
