Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

Production Supervisor Job Summary:

A Production Supervisor is primarily responsible for assuring all procedures are followed in achieving the highest level of productivity in the most cost-efficient manner possible while still maintaining customer specifications. In addition, the supervisor will direct a team of employees, ensuring compliance with all food safety programs, and enforcing company policies. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Manage employee performance, providing positive and /or corrective feedback.

  • Promote Safety throughout assigned work area.

  • Ensure proper staffing before start-up of production line.

  • Supervise, coach and train employees, providing professional development through on-going feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement.

  • Mentor and motivate employees, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth.

  • Facilitate employee meetings, including employee training.

  • Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and maintained.

  • Develop and maintain a relationship with employees while promoting company values such as, good attendance, strong work ethic and a desire to see the company succeed.

  • Communicate and ensure compliance with company policy, standards and procedures, quality standards, and QA/HACCP.

  • Direct employees on a daily basis to efficiently meet all production goals.

  • Responsible for employees’ performance, development, safety and work schedule.

  • Ensure compliance with established food safety programs, including HACCP, SSOPs and GMPs.

  • Optimize employee engagement through positive leadership.

  • Maximize yields while minimizing down time, accidents and turnover.

  • Encourage team building and provide positive encouragement to team members.

  • Ensure a food safe and sanitary environment within specifications and USDA requirements.

  • Establish and meet production schedules and efficiencies.

  • Plan and implement process improvements.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or GED required, with Bachelor's degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Business Management, or related field preferred.

  • One (1) to three (3) years’ supervisory experience, preferably in poultry or meat processing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English language skills (reading and writing) required.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills helpful but not required.

  • Proficient computer and analytical skills.

  • Basic knowledge of all floor production level operations.

  • Working knowledge of poultry processing, food safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, GMPs and HACCP.

  • Proficient knowledge of production processes, general line maintenance and staffing.

  • Leadership skills and abilities.

  • Proven team-building abilities.

  • Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.

Physical/Environmental Factors:


  • Cold, damp, wet environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees.

  • Stand/walk 100% of work day.

  • Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels.

  • Bend, stoop, and lift various weights as needed.

  • Climb stairs, frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend.

  • Exposure to strong, raw and foul odors.

  • Bending, twisting, stacking, pushing and standing for long periods of time.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and wrists.
