The PACCAR Global Engine team is looking for a driven Technical Lead Engineer to support product development with a specific focus on heavy-duty diesel engine performance of the North American PACCAR engine families. The selected individual will work with a global cross-functional team and be responsible for driving quality and efficiency initiatives in the product development process including engine testing methods, technical analysis, documentation and internal reporting.

Division Information
The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Mentor junior engineers, fostering an atmosphere of teamwork, and inspiring personal ownership and commitment to product quality.
Lead and support cross-functional collaboration on quality and efficiency initiatives for the department
Lead the team collaboration and process to resolve top technical product development concerns
Provide technical feedback on proposed product changes, testing methods, analysis and reporting
Work with the global advanced technology teams to evaluate new technologies for production feasibility in the North American market
Support the development, verification, release and implementation of software for PACCAR engine families
Provide input to the development, communication and management of vehicle development plans
Support embedded engineering group with new product requirements definition and software prototyping
Work with OBD team to build robust diagnostic strategies and calibrations
Provide support to the running business group in the calibration, verification and release of running change software releases
Stay current on software functionality and product requirements for the PACCAR engine family
Stay current with technology and regulation trends in the heavy-duty diesel industry
Maintain positive working relationships with other groups and PACCAR divisions
Qualifications
Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry
Sound knowledge of 1D engine simulation and design of experiments (DOE) for engine calibration
Direct experience with test cell and in vehicle diesel engine calibration, calibration tools, OBD, and engine control systems
Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment
Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required
Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and a willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands.
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Ability to travel up to 20%
Education
MS degree in technical field preferred; BS degree in technical field acceptable with a minimum of two years of experience in a technical leadership role
