As a Product Owner with the UX Research & Design group, you will drive our centralized team’s workflow, process and operations serving EBSCO web and mobile based products and services. As a connecting point between product management, marketing, technology and other stakeholder groups, you will utilize a unique blend of Business, User Centric Design practices, and technical savvy to make the company vision a reality. UXPOs are agile team backlog owners and guardians of product quality. 

The mission of the UXPO is to help team members understand Product development priorities, improve research & design practices and enhance team output. The ideal candidate will do so by teaching, implementing, and supporting UX design thinking and various UX research methodologies in harmony with SAFe principles and best practices.  The UXPO is a servant leader who works with and for the teams, ultimetely empowering teams to challenge their existing environment and remove impediments. 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Work with UX R&D Team, and agile development teams, to deliver great products and services for our customers. 


  • Collaborate with members of the extended product and platform management team (epic owners, product managers, platform managers, agile product managers, analysts, etc.) as needed to understand market needs and product requirements. 


  • Know your product details and contribute a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the product and mission 


  • Assist Agile Product Managers with the definition of product Design & Research features and functionality 


  • Facilitate team meetings, including the Daily Standup, Iteration Planning, Team Demo and Iteration Retrospective, as well as the team’s participation in events such as Program Increment Planning and Inspect and Adapt workshops. 


  • Identify and remove any impediments/distractions that interfere with the team's ability to deliver against their commitments. 



  • Work with the teams to identify and execute upon opportunities for continuous improvement of team dynamics, enjoyment, and performance in an environment of collaboration and innovation. 


  • Facilitate, coach, and inspire the team to challenge itself and complete the work without coercion, assignment, or dictating. Understand how to address conflict and mediate in order to help the teams become high performing. 


  • Work with technology management to leverage key metrics to communicate progress and health of the teams as well as to identify and leverage opportunities for improvement. 


  • Facilitate internal and external communication between Agile Product Owners, RTEs, Technology Managers, Team Members, and key Stakeholders to improve transparency and information sharing 


  • Maintain an actionable, prioritized team backlog

Skills or experience you need 


  • At least two years working as a business analyst or in product management (preferably in UX or as a product owner), or one year as a member of an agile development team 


  • At least two years of defining and documenting product requirements into small, well-articulated, and valuable deliverables 


 

Skills or experience that sets you apart 


  • Experience working within a Lean-agile software product development culture 


  • You have used a variety of business analysis tools and techniques to aid in the breakdown of large chunks of work, elicit requirements, or make decisions 


  • Can derive actionable insights from customer usage data 


  • Practical experience with A/B or multivariate testing 



  • A proven track record of developing and managing world-class consumer facing software 


  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment across multiple functional teams 


  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
