The duties and responsibilities of the Lead Ultrasound Technologist  include but are not limited to: 



  • Responsible for technical administration of the Ultrasound section of the Radiology Department.  Lead tech will ensure patient flow through department and ER are consistent and will troubleshoot equipment failures. Lead Tech will demonstrate competence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability to adjust protocols as required. 




  • Lead tech will assist Imaging Director to ensure that the Ultrasound equipment is inspected and

    remains compliant with  VDH standards. 




  • Demonstrate ability to perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper exam documentation and charges. Records pertinent data on requisitions at all times. Assists PACS administrator by providing guidance and troubleshoots sonography related PACS issues. 




  • Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner and always identifies patients utilizing theproper protocols. 




  • Monitors inventory of supplies and orders supplies. Resource management of supplies is within budget targets. Maintains room cleanliness and neat appearance. 




  • Lead Tech will work side by side with Imaging Director to ensure all Ultrasound protocols remain current. Assist the radiology nurse or radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types of care to the patient. 




  • Lead Tech will serve as the go to person for Trophon education and review of monthly audits. Lead tech will work closely with Imaging Director regarding Trophon. 




  • Review each exam for technical accuracy and identifies anatomical orientation on all images. 




  • Demonstrate willingness to assist in additional duties. 




  • Assures guidance, orientation and training of technical staff

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE 

 

REQUIRED:   Three years minimum experience as a Registered Sonographer.  

PREFERRED:   Previous experience as Sonography Lead Technologist.

 

EDUCATION 

 

REQUIRED: Competently trained in Ultrasound. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT or the ARDMS for licensure if applicable.  

PREFERRED:   Graduate of AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Required)

Current BLS CPR Certification (Required)
