Job Description:

Management Guidance LLP (MGLLP) is a boutique, management-side labor relations law firm headquartered in Saint Paul, MN. In addition to traditional legal services, MGLLP provides law-related services such as association management to key clients.MGLLP is hiring for a unique opportunity based in Brookfield, WI. The successful candidate will join MGLLP as a full-time employee with a primary duty to serve as the Executive Director of the Allied Construction Employers Association (ACEA). Founded in 1936, the ACEA is a construction industry employer association that leads labor relations functions for unionized construction employers who operate in the state of Wisconsin.The Executive Director is the public face and leader of the ACEA. This position will lead the activities of the organization and report to its Board of Directors under MGLLP’s management and oversight.Specific Job Responsibilities Include:• Lead all phases of the collective bargaining process with multiple WI construction trade unions• Lead and/or participate in industry labor-management committees and processes• Oversee industry grievance-dispute resolution processes, including arbitration and unfair labor practice proceedings (advocacy may also be required in dispute resolution matters)• Serve as professional management trustee to multiple construction industry Taft-Hartley employee benefit plans• Provide labor relations advice and counsel to employers• Lead member recruitment and retention efforts• Plan and manage member communications• Participate in industry initiatives and dialog with unions, companies, elected officials, community-based organizations, and other construction industry stakeholders• Manage the ACEA’s budget and finances as directed by the Board of Directors• Manage the activities of the two person Brookfield-based office administrative staffMGLLP works as a team on behalf of its clients, which include employers and employer associations nationwide. The successful candidate will have the support of MGLLP’s experienced team members and the opportunity to work on additional MGLLP client projects as capacity permits. Experienced labor relations attorneys with or without portable unionized employer clients are strongly encouraged to apply.Skills and Abilities:• Highly skilled in the areas of leadership and negotiation• Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills• Able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines• Self-motivated and able to work independently• Willing to collaborate with colleagues and other team members• Comfortable using technology in all facets of work• Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the timeEducation and Experience:• Law degree with 5+ years of relevant experience (WI state license preferred but not required)• Desirable knowledge and experience includes: labor and employment law, collective bargaining, Taft-Hartley employee benefit plans, union grievance-dispute resolution, and association management• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams, and ZoomIn addition to a competitive salary, the compensation package will include health benefits and a generous annual retirement contribution (vesting period required).
