The Research and Development Strategy Lead position sits within the JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking line of business and reports into the Head of Research and Development. This individual will be the subject matter expert for research and development of commercial banking products and will work with our CORE R&D team to identify priorities, pursue desirable programs, relationships and project opportunities that align with strategic goals. The new hire will be a key voice and stakeholder for the Commercial Bank's innovation accelerator (lab) team in the development of prototypes and POCs that enable deeper exploration of market shifting solutions. This individual will also collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across product management, transformation, technology, sales, client support and finance to identify industry, market segment and client needs.
Responsibilities
Serves as right hand to the Head of Research and Development. Supports R&D strategic initiatives including curation of R&D portfolio, development of R&D Key Performance Indicators and driving portfolio delivery health.
Contributes to the product vision/strategy and translates this product strategy into an execution plan that aligns to ensure fulfillment of short, mid and long-term business objectives
Leads R&D strategy development through identifying areas for strategic consideration, formulating and implementing strategic projects and being accountable for project success
Helps to develop and implement R&D pipeline, product development and operational goals
Leverage data science team and primary research to identify and deeply understand emerging external trends and their impacts to our client and product ecosystems
Helps to develop a perspective on the evolution of client needs spanning multiple industries and personas across banking, banking adjacent, and beyond banking solutions
Supports the development of theses on emerging opportunities / problem statements and size new addressable markets
Partners with a multi-disciplinary innovation accelerator team spanning client research, visual design, data science, emerging technology and product to execute concept sprints, develop prototypes, complete proof of concepts and manage in residence experiments with FinTech partners and practitioners
Qualifications
9+ years of experience in research and development, strategy or product development roles responsible for new revenue opportunities with a focus on banking solutions and products
Experience and success bringing net-new products to market in an organizational environment that is large, complex, cross functional and ever-evolving
Successful track record of growing revenue through the rapid identification, prototyping, user testing and development of new financial services products
Demonstrates leadership qualities and ability to work well with colleagues at all levels in a matrixed environment
Works through influence across functional boundaries to achieve goals sometimes without direct control of resources
Passion for building something new and working across boundaries to drive meaningful change while helping others succeed
Management / strategy consulting experience a plus
Degree in Business Administration, Management, Strategy, Computer Science or engineering field is preferred
