About Us:
Vision Research is a Business Unit in the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK, Inc. Vision Research manufactures industry leading high-speed digital cameras. Our cameras are primarily sold into industrial, academic, defense and government research facilities. We also have a smaller entertainment oriented camera business. Job Overview
This position is responsible for leading and managing a world-class team that designs and develops market-leading high-speed camera products that are key to our success, as well as providing the requisite technical support for manufacturing and customer service when assistance is needed.

The position entails project-related responsibility managing new camera development projects. As a leader of other technical professionals, the candidate should be a proven self-starter with demonstrated leadership abilities.

The candidate must have proven experience with high-speed PCB design and digital electronics (FPGAs, embedded CPUs, RAM, Flash, high-speed serial interfaces, etc.) Demonstrated experience with embedded Linux is a plus. The candidate will also collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to ensure optimal packaging and cooling.

An ideal candidate should demonstrate experience in root cause analysis of problems, as well as design for manufacturability and test.

Some travel required.

Reports to the Vice-President of R&D

Position Requirements:
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Manages a team of 5 to 10 individuals as a functional manager/leader.
•Manages leading-edge camera development projects encompassing high-speed digital and some analog HW solutions that contribute to our roadmap.
•Executes to schedule and budget goals of the company.
•Stays current with new sensor, camera, memory and high-speed digital imaging system technologies.
•Ensures timely execution of new PCB designs, reviews and releases.
•Balances cost with technology to create optimal market-leading solutions for realization of our technical roadmap.
•Assists in root-cause diagnosis and solutions to support Continual Improvement and Customer Satisfaction.
•Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Skills/Talents:

•B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering. M.S. Engineering degree or equivalent a plus.
•10+ years experience working in a fast-paced technological environment, with at least 3 years in a project managerial role.
•Proven Microsoft Project scheduling, Critical-path management, Project/product cost management, Risk management experience.
•Excellent technical judgment and decision-making skills.
•Experience with high-speed digital electronics.
•Dependable, driven, teachable person with good work ethic.
•Recognizes speed of execution as a competitive advantage for Vision Research and thus makes decisions and takes risks to support the rapid development of products and solutions.
•Team player who desires working in a dynamic environment where effective team concepts are valued and practiced.

Desirable Skills:

•Experience with CMOS image sensors/camera design is a plus.
•Experience with switching and linear regulator and power supplies is a plus.
•PADS Schematic Capture / Layout experience (to review/release PCBs).
•FPGA design experience with VHDL/Verilog a plus.
•Optical knowledge/experience is a plus.
