Under direction from the Director of Information Management or designated manager the Manager of Software Development is responsible for leading and Managing a team of Network Systems Engineers within the NOC Information Management team. The Manager will provide technical guidance and oversight of all development and operational support efforts. The candidate will be required to lead development efforts, conceptual designs, and supervise methodical testing of code and data architecture structures of medium to large complex applications ranging from data collection/warehousing to internal tool integrations. Foster new solutions and approaches and guide successful technical adoption through mentoring, instruction, and by actively participating in application support and software development projects. This includes translating business requirements into processing logic, recommendations on framework & vendor platforms, software stacks and assisting with the overall development of departmental NOC Information Management and Engineering and Technology business units. The Manager is also responsible in assuring operational availability of these tools and systems by coordinating 24x7 support operations within the team. The Manager will work together with Key Stakeholders to plan and execute projects, ensure that teams have appropriate requirements and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines. The Manager will be a Technical Expert in Cable MSO technologies and will facilitate strategies for new product development with the goal of providing Altice USA's customer base a more reliable product. Additionally, the Manager will also monitor individual employees' performance, provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development.
Qualifications Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science. Minimum 3 years of management/leadership experience in software development / systems engineering setting required. Must have 5-7 years experience working through design, development, release, and support of software systems and tools. In addition, strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (Agile) required. The candidate will also demonstrate advanced experience in Object Oriented Programming, Perl, Shell Scripting, Java and C, Linux Systems Administration, MySQL Tuning and Administration, Knowledge of various system architectures VMware, EMC San, JMS, SOAP, Apache technologies, very large databases (VLDBs), ETL, MPP. Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, articulate, diplomatic, strategic thinker, visionary, persuasive, negotiation and conflict management, and thought leadership. Network management experience, solid understanding of the telecommunications Cable MSO domain, solid understanding of business processes, program management, change management, and risk management.
