JOB SUMMARY

The Senior System Engineer will help implement and maintain multiple automation capabilities for existing and emerging tools. The candidate must demonstrate technical leadership capabilities and be experienced in project execution, systems automation, and operations for automation platforms in a progressive and collaborative Agile environment. You will be responsible for delivering production quality tooling that is optimized for performance and reliability while maintaining the safety and security of the operating environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with the Development, System, and Architecture teams to design and implement the System team's roadmap including infrastructure and pipeline automation as well as new platform technology initiatives.
• Serve as a key resource regarding cloud automation and deployment strategies, specifically, but not limited to AWS.
• Help make key decisions on technologies and tools required for automation.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and document current and future-state automation processes, procedures, and environments.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to ensure that the best techniques and tools are used to automate infrastructure and platform operations.
• Lead engagements to improve automation capabilities across functional areas.
• Be a consistent teacher of best practices to elevate engineers inside and outside your team.

• Strong experience designing and deploying AWS and other cloud services with an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) mindset.
• Strong experience designing and implementing infrastructure automation and configuration management tools and techniques.
• Strong experience with at least one automation/scripting/deployment language such as Python, Ruby, Go, PowerShell, CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes deployment, high availability operations, and security.
• Strong communication skills - verbal and written - with the ability to collaborate well within a team and across organizations.
• Ability to design, deploy, and manage operating systems, and/or applications on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud.
• Ability to design, deploy, and manage Docker containers
• Experience designing and/or implementing the infrastructure and pipelines for both Software as a Service (SaaS) and on-premise delivery models.
• Knowledge of systems administration in a variety of environments - Linux, Windows, virtualized, and cloud (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, etc.).
• Automated build experience with tools like Jenkins, Ant, QuickBuild, GitHub Actions, Codefresh, etc.
• Experience with centralized infrastructure and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, DSC, Salt, etc.
• Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) environments including architecture and management.
• Understanding of security best practices when architecting environments, applications, and CI/CD processes.

• Undergraduate degree preferably in Computer Science or a similar technical degree.
• 12 years of experience in technology related roles.
• 7 years of experience in technical leadership or operational roles.
• 4 years of experience in a DevOps culture or production SaaS environment.
