Job Description:

DH Pace Carolina, a DH Pace Company, is currently looking for an Estimator to join our team in Charlotte, NC.  With minimal supervision, the Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely and competitive bids resulting in profitable sales and positive customer relationships.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Rapidly develops or possess advanced level skills at using DH Pace estimating processes and procedures and utilizing DH Pace estimating software as well as other business software programs.

  • Rapidly develops or possesses advanced level knowledge of door and door related products, understanding functionality, special features, usage options as well as pricing variance based on specific job needs.

  • Educates customers on product options and assist customers in product selection to ensure sale and best project outcome.

  • Prepares work to be estimated based on the process established for the business unit, which could include but not limited to receiving blue prints, invitations to bid, photos, green/yellow sheet measurements or scope of work to begin preparations for estimating costs for materials, labor and time requirement needed to complete the project.

  • Estimate materials that meet specifications, construction schedules and construction requirements and complete the estimating accurately and timely meeting bid deadline.

  • Estimates advanced and complex projects of limited project size, writing all proposals clearly and concisely for review and approval by Estimator 3 prior to customer's review.

  • Complete all follow up activities for prepared bids and concludes all bids meeting customers approval.

  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize consultative selling techniques.

  • Reviews and approves entry level estimator 1's and other team members' final work product for accuracy, appropriate product usage and to ensuring meeting or exceed customer's satisfaction.

  • Promote and maintain a positive attitude toward outside contractors, architects and individuals within the Company regardless of the circumstances.

  • Effectively communicate with the customers, supervisors, and other office staff.

  • Meet or exceed annual estimating volume expectations as warranted based on experience level or length of time in the position.

  • Possess strong language, written and mathematical skills.  Work up quotes on materials (as needed to meet specifications) while continuing to be competitive in the market place.

  • Represent the company in a professional manner with good customer service and verbal communication skills.  Maintain and promote a positive attitude toward customers regardless of the circumstances.  Communicate with customer, supervisor or other office personnel in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work Overtime as required.

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • Prefer someone with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or Construction Management.

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a business setting.

SKILLS:



  • Must have advanced understanding of doors, frames, and hardware installation.

  • Must have strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.

  • Must be computer literate.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office desirable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:



  • Must be able to obtain a Door and Hardware Industry Associate (DHIA) Certification within six (6) months in position.

  • Must be able to obtain a Construction Document Technologist (CDT) within two (2) years in position.

  • Must be able to obtain a Certified Construction Contract Administration (CCCA) within five (5) years in position.
